How Performix xMES™ Maps to S95
After the emergence of various industry standard models for MES (such as MESA , S95, and PRM), most MES products began structuring themselves on the lines of these models. In effect, most MES products incorporate a large part of the MESA or S95 model within themselves. However, the fact remains that many ERP and Automation systems, which were traditionally not focused on the MES space, already incorporated various functionalities that the MESA and S95 model proposed should exist within an MES.

The following diagram compares the proposed MESA model and the reality in the market concerning feature separation across existing systems.

As can be seen, SAP has already implemented a significant amount of functionalities proposed by the MES and ISA 95 models. Performix xMES™ does not attempt to replicate any functionality that already exists within SAP, but rather focuses on Plant Floor execution of a Production Order, tracking and tracing of a Production Order through the plant floor, and reporting the Performance Metrics to a Performance Analysis tool like xMII.
